Holloware Care:

Holloware projects a quality image and makes the most of a fine meal, from appetizers through dessert and coffee. Proper care of your holloware will ensure a long life of beautiful service, maximizing the return on your investment.

Follow these instructions for optimum durability and performance:

  1. Store your holloware pieces together in a reasonably dry area. Organize the pieces by size and type to save time in handling and inventory. Plastic or wooden racks provide the best storage. Avoid plastics containing sulphur for storing silver.
  2. Pieces should be pre-soaked and washed immediately after use to remove hardened food particles which can cause tarnish. Do not use steel wool or metal scrapers to remove food particles.
  3. Separate flatware and holloware for pre-soaking. Follow the cleaning agent manufacturer’s instructions fro pre-soaking, but avoid products containing chlorides, bromides or iodides. For best results, change the pre-soak when it becomes dirty or greasy – about every three or four loads.
  4. Wash your holloware right after it comes out of pre-soaking. Load the washing machine with the openings of hollow pieces facing down. Use washing detergents recommended by the manufacturer of your machine, but again avoid products containing chlorides, bromides or iodides. Also be aware that a high chloride content in the water can be damaging. Check your local water, and if a water softening unit is necessary, check its operation regularly.
  5. All pieces should be completely dry when they come out of the washing machine. Storing pieces that are not dry can cause corrosion and oxidation marks. Check the pieces to make sure they’re clean and have not retained any food particles. Re-clean items if necessary.
